Freedom of Information & Privacy Act
Requests for documents held by the OIG under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act are processed by the EAC. EAC has promulgated regulations (See FOIA Regulations) governing how to request documents under the FOIA. In addition, OIG has provided a helpful guide (See FOIA Guide) that will assist you in making a request for documents under the FOIA. EAC has also promulgated regulations governing requests for information under the Privacy Act. The OIG has a separate designation of documents, which are maintained by the OIG and covered by the Privacy Act (see Privacy Act Designation). If you want to request a document or to make changes to a document or report that is maintained by the OIG, use the contact information provided below for making a FOIA request.
Before you make a request for documents under the FOIA, please take the time to review the contents of the FOIA Reading Room (See Reading Room) as it contains all of the reports issued by the OIG as well as other items of interest to the public. Similarly, for information covered by the Privacy Act, please review the ordinary uses identified by the OIG in its Privacy Act records publication (see Privacy Act Designation).
If you wish to make a request for information under the Privacy Act or the FOIA, first review the FOIA Guide and Regulations to understand what information should be included in your request and to whom you should make your request. After reviewing these publications, you may make a request by mail, by fax, or electronic mail to:
